Finca Les Pontarro is a magnificent and spacious Mallorcan farmhouse, close to Pollenca Old Town, dating back to 1649, it has been lovingly renovated to a very high standard by the owners Toni and Joana, and they have managed to retain the original structure and dense open stone walls that give character to this historic property.
The villa is just 1km from Pollensa old town situated in a quiet no-through lane at the foot of the majestic Puig Maria mountain. It's an extremely peaceful rural area, surrounded by farmland and rolling fields, overlooking the Buscaroles valley at the back of the Puig, making this an ideal and tranquil holiday retreat.
It has a gated entrance and the original cobbled courtyard at the front of the villa full of potted plants, colourful Mediterranean flowers and olive trees. A beautiful arched entrance with double doors leads into an impressive high-ceilinged hallway with beamed ceilings.
The villa has central heating in all rooms and air-conditioning units in all of the bedrooms. It has gorgeous beige ceramic tiling throughout the villa, modern up-lighting and the interior décor is a fusion of traditional and modern, combining antique furniture with bright artwork and up to date comfort, including WiFi internet access throughout.
Glass doors lead into the lounge dining room which has a lot of natural sunlight. Sofas in an L-shape are grouped around a low wood coffee table and there is a large flat-screen TV, DVD and sky satellite system for BBC and ITV freeview channels.
A large wood dining table seating 10 people has patio doors leading from here out onto the furnished poolside terrace and gardens.
The sizeable kitchen is to the side and is accessed from both the entrance hall and the lounge. It has fitted light wood units and up-to-the minute silestone work surfaces with double sinks. Glass units are fitted onto the walls so there is plenty of storage space. It also has a split-level stainless steel oven and fitted microwave and a vitro-ceramic hob with large inox cooker hood. There is a handy round breakfast table as well in the middle and a large fridge freezer. Large spotlights illuminate the kitchen and there is a window overlooking the front courtyard entrance. Authentic hand-blown glass water bottles decorate the tops of the units which contrast with the contemporary style.
There is a double bedroom on the ground level of the villa that has a window overlooking the front courtyard entrance. Also on this level is a modern shower bathroom with large walk-in shower (the shower has a small lip on it so is not entirely suitable for wheelchairs but is fine for those with walking difficulties).
On the upper level there is a long hallway and the floors are all made of wood. Here is a double bedroom with en-suite shower bathroom with a window looking out to the front of the villa.
The largest of the twin bedrooms has full size windows looking out over the pool and gardens at the back of the villa. This bedroom has an en-suite full bathroom with a corner bath and a separate walk-in shower. Along the hallway are two twin bedrooms both with windows to the front of the house and a large shower bathroom with extra large walk-in shower. At the very end of the hallway is a utility area with washing machine, iron and ironing board facilities.
From the lounge there are double doors out onto a gorgeous poolside patio complete with exterior dining furniture and an impressive arched awning for shade. The far-reaching views here are breathtaking - looking out over the valley towards the Colonya mountains with beautiful green woodland and the backdrop to the right of the Puig Maria mountain. It is a private and peaceful garden full of established flowers, shrubs and trees to give welcome shade in the summer, and there is a brick barbeque, feature well and heated hot-tub. A large lawn surrounds the long rectangular pool that has unusual triangular roman steps and there is a sunbathing patio area on one side of the pool.
