Lagos, often referred to as the Golden Coast due to the yellowish colour of its rocks, is the most historically interesting coastal town in the Algarve. It is a town where you can spend hours strolling round the shops on the picturesque cobbled streets, pausing for a refreshing Portuguese beer or a coffee in sun-baked squares. There are restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets in Lagos, the resort is packed with excellent restaurants and the row of fish restaurants beside the seafood and vegetable market is well worth a visit.
