Lanzarote is a stunning volcanic island with a dramatic landscape which lies just 70 miles off the coast of Africa. Because of its location and year round climate, it is home to some of the best beaches in the Canary Islands. There is a beach to suit every need - from tiny, quiet coves where you'll find peace and tranquility to the wide sandy stretches of the larger resorts, where you'll find every facility and fun for all the family.

The Canary Islands are famous for their colourful open-air markets, and Lanzarote is no exception. The biggest market is held every Sunday in Teguise where hundreds of bright coloured stalls and thousands of shoppers create a carnival-like atmosphere. Be sure to look out for the African stalls selling crafts such as wooden sculptures, tribal artefacts and African drums, plus there's clothing, jewellery, pottery, lacework too. To add to the atmosphere there is usually a folk band playing in the square.
