An incredibly elegant and private house with several acres of gardens, on the top of a hill outside Pollença. Finca Mastaguera is surrounded by beautiful countryside with sweeping views over mountains and valleys and down to the sea.
The house is hidden away down a single-track country road that leads up through olive groves and almond trees. The house itself has been converted from an old stone farm. Inside, the rooms are light and bright with a mixture of traditional materials and modern comfort. There are stone walls and archways, white-painted walls, beamed ceilings and terracotta-tiled floors.
The lounge is a long room with sofas and chairs around an open fire. There's satellite tv here and a dvd and cd stereo. A wide stone arch leads through to the dining room. Both these rooms look out onto a pretty courtyard with a barbecue cooking area with its own sink. A stone staircase leads up out of the courtyard to a terrace. The kitchen has new units and appliances including a dishwasher, and laundry can be done in the separate utility room.
There are two twin bedrooms also on the ground floor. They share a bathroom with a bath and a shower. All the bedrooms are air-conditioned. There are three more bedrooms on the first floor: two double rooms and a twin room.
These rooms are light and bright with wooden furniture and white linen and views over the gardens and surrounding countryside. The loveliest double room has an en-suite bathroom and two private terraces. The second double also has an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower and again has its own terrace with mountain views. The twin bedroom on this floor has an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower.
There are eight acres of gardens and land around the house, with amazing views down valley across green fields with sheep. There are Mediterranean plants such as bougainvillea and geraniums, cacti and date palms. There are lots of lawns too with relaxing and shady places to sit and read, or for children to run around and play. The swimming pool and sun-terraces are also a really gorgeous place, with roman steps into the pool and tall trees shading the water.
Finca Mastaguera is a fantastic house with lots of room for relaxing and exploring. It's a delightful place to spend the whole day round the pool, and it's also just a short drive to Pollenca and the golf course - both are five minutes' drive. The beach and sea at Puerto Pollenca are ten minutes away.
