Rethymnon encompassing the sub-resorts of Stavromenos and Adele, Rethymnon is popular with beach lovers and history buffs. It boasts a Venetian fortress, a quiant little fishing harbour lined with water's edge tavernas and a more up beat promenade. The town has a couple of lively bars and nightclubs but by far the most popular night time attractions are the cafe bars and tavernas. There's a good selection of shops here as well as many outlying quiet beach resorts.
