Selva makes up one of the most attractive areas on the island of Mallorca - the north-west coast. A short drive from Pollença old town and the beach resort of Puerto Pollença, the town of Selva can be seen from a distance and is one of the entrances to the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, which is 140 kilometres long, separating the coastline from the rest of the island.
Selva is a traditional Mallorcan hilltop village - a great experience of rural Spain - with a small selection of amenities in the town centre including a bank, shops, restaurants and café-bars. A short drive will take you to Inca which is Mallorca's third town and has a wide range of restaurants and bars and is famous for its leather goods and is home to several of Europe's most famous shoe makers.
As a consequence of its opposing landscapes, Selva offers an amazing contrast between the valley and the mountains. On one side, a calcareous mountain, heavy and massive, with natural forests and on the other side, a low area consisting of land divided into numerous small properties. The local produce in this area is almonds, olives, cereals, carobs and figs.
Selva is part of a wonderful area of Mallorca, unspoilt by tourism, and a wonderful place to explore on foot or by bicycle. Holidays to this part of the island are peaceful and relaxing and a great place to spend time in a private villa with family or groups of friends.
