Algarve named the third most popular destination for Britons

More great news on how popular Portugal has become with research showing that it has become the third most popular destination for Brits taking a holiday.

The figures released by the travel website Homeaway has shown that larger amounts of Britons than usual headed off on holiday during the second quarter of 2012, with the wettest April and June recorded.

The top five destinations were named as Côte d’Azur, Algarve, Majorca and Malaga, and out of the ten top destinations seven were sun, sea, and sand destinations.

The findings mirrored the recent comments from airline easyJet that saw a large increase in passenger numbers during April and June.
