Many travel companies and airlines have been reporting a huge increase during the second quarter of 2012 of British holiday makers heading off to sunnier climates abroad.
Holiday website HomeAway commented that with April and June being the wettest on record, beach holidays have become extremely popular with those wishing to get away for a break such as a villa holiday. The travel website’s figures mirrored recent reports by the Airline EasyJet, who saw number increase by almost 11% during the three months leading up to June, with both Spain and Portugal at the top of the list.
Another survey carried out showed just how popular the beach holiday had become to British travellers, with 43% taking sunshine breaks such as stays in our villas in Algarve, while only 25% were opting for rural retreats.
