Portugal is famed for having a rich history and culture, with many heading to the country to not only enjoy a break in one of the most scenic and alluring destinations in Europe but also to get a great cultural experience.
A shipwreck has been discovered in the Algarve that could mean even more historical artefacts will soon be put on show across the region in its many museums and exhibition centres.
The shipwreck was discovered in the Arade River in the Algarve’s Portimão and is thought to be from the Roman period. It is expected that more and more finds will be discovered within the next two years as part of an underwater archaeology campaign follows its course throughout Portugal and the Algarve.
So, keep your eyes peeled for any exhibitions taking place regarding the new archaeology campaign during your next villa holiday in our villas in Algarve.
