Palma Cathedral opens roof terrace to public

- (02 Oct 12) Palma Cathedral opens roof terrace to public

Visitors to the Majorcan capital of Palma over the coming days are in for a real treat, with sections of the famous Palma Cathedral now open for public viewing after sizeable restoration work.

Work first began on the La Seu Trinitat Baixa back in March, aimed at restoring the lower parts of the cathedral through a €500,000 investment. As a celebration of completion, the rooftop terrace area of the structure will be open today and tomorrow completely free of charge, offering awe-inspiring views across the city from what is arguably the capital’s most famous landmark.

While it offers an incredible spectacle for any of those currently enjoying their villa holidays during the period, this isn’t the only chance to discover the roof terrace. A 45-minute guided tour has been earmarked, including a visit to the bell tower and the famous rose stained glass window. The only thing stopping the tour is the restoration of the cloisters, which are expected to begin this winter.
