The Algarve joins Lisbon as favourite Portugal destination

A new report carried out by the Portuguese Tourism board – Turismo de Portugal – has shown that both the Algarve region and Lisbon have become the most popular destinations to visit whilst visiting Portugal.

The study also showed that visitors to Portugal found that the cultural offering the country had to offer was the most important reason for their destination choice, with the Portuguese hospitality coming second with 84% and 72% respectively.

As mentioned, the Algarve region has topped the poll for being the most visited area in Portugal with 46% of visitors favouring the region, followed up by 42% with Lisbon.
