The festival of Santa Maria in Cala d’Or

Celebrations have already started for the Festes Santa Maria del Mar across the island of Mallorca, and one resort that features a large and varied list of entertainment and events is Cala d’Or.

Festivities started at the weekend in Cala d’Or to celebrate the festival of the Virgin Mary and will continue on until next weekend, with plenty of things to see and do.  Already the renowned villa holiday resort has seen events take place such as skateboarding competitions, art exhibitions, food tasting sessions and even a large 70s themed party.

Coming up during the rest of the week will be a maritime procession, a night of dancing hosted by a local dance academy, and a great fireworks show.

Cala d’Or is a fabulous destination to visit even when festivities aren’t taking place, with a wonderful selection of beaches within walking distance and a great town centre full of interesting shops.
