Late deals? Maybe too late?

There’s always hints and tips about bagging the best deals and where to book that holiday bargain. Now that the Met office has done a u-turn in predicting its BBQ summer, there’s been a flurry of staycationers looking to jet away to escape the wetter weather.

But one of the biggest travel myths which is mentioned in this blog, Journey etc, is that booking late will get you the best deal.

You save more money if you book late – again this used to be a fact, but is actually no longer true. Online travel booking services and cheap flights have led to a surge in holiday traffic, and prices and availability have become a lot more flexible. These days it is actually better to book earlier, as popular packages fill up quickly and the really good deals are available to a much wider audience of people through the internet, so get snapped up very quickly.

There’s no doubt there are late deals and offers to be had, however there’s always the danger you could be left with a less than perfect holiday.

So, leaving it late, may save you some pounds, but will you get the holiday you want and hope for? And now that we’re looking to be more frugal, is it really worth spending the money on a holiday you may not be 100 per cent happy with?

The golden rule should be to book ahead. Whatever holiday you’re looking for, booking early not only avoids disappointment but there’s always plenty of extras to be taken advantage of.
